The Most Dangerous Man in the World

I am the most hated, dangerous man in the world.

Am I Mr. Big from Live and Let Die?  No.

Am I Ernst Stavro Bloveld, planning to launch a national network of satellites to monitor mastermind criminal activities across the globe?   No.

Or am I the monetarily-challenged Dr. Evil from Austin Powers demanding one M-I-L-L-I-O-N dollars?

Again, no.

My wife and friends don't know how dangerous and evil I have become.  Apparently, being good in the sack and having a boat goes a long ways towards putting people at ease.  My teammates at Viterbo University, aging sports stars that they are, still invite me to play basketball, and clients trust me to invest hard-earned money for their retirement years.  My co-workers also still invite me for a beer after work. And yet every time I look in the mirror, I am reminded of the monster I have become.

Aaron Rogers gets more love from the Packers front office than I do from today's education system, feminists and civil rights groups.

My crime?  Being a white, straight, conservative male dude.

According to a survey administered to students at a prestigious community college, white males are the most hated group in America.  These students were given 10 questions relating to eight different racial, gender and ethnic groups, including black males, black females, Hispanic males, Hispanic females, white males and white females.  The questions were designed to measure students negative attitude toward the eight groups and included phrases like hateful, prejudiced, cheating, societal wrongdoing and lying.  Question ten even asked, "If you had to kill one of the above groups, which one would you kill?"

Putting aside the false premise that people ARE different based on their skin color, I don't think I've ever been at the top of a list before (although I did finish second once in middle school during basketball tryouts), and yet here I am at numero uno on six of the ten questions.

The ten-question survey clearly shows how much prejudice people have toward me by making false  generalizations about white males.  Conversely, if you put good qualities and asked for the same responses, my guess is that I would be at the bottom of that list.

The de-construction of the white, heterosexual male has been going on for decades.  Only recently, with Black Lives Matter and CRT (critical race theory) have the attacks become more visible.  Like some variant of Brood X, the U.S. cicada hatch coming in 2021 -- students from liberal colleges everywhere are infesting  American corporations, major sporting leagues, government agencies and the military.  The result is an attack on what it used to mean to be a white, conservative male:   individualism, hard work, objectivity, the nuclear family, progress, respect for authority and delayed gratification.

I don't know what is more impressive -- the systemic transformation of rich, entitled students into hateful and rude snowflakes that hold America in contempt, or the capitulation of our once-great institutions to appease their ridiculous demands.  Both are as welcome as the Grim Reaper knocking on your door in the middle of the night.

Equally frustrating is the ease with which the liberals have dodged their hypocrisy.  Democrats enjoy being the moral arbiters -- they of the "hands up, don't shoot" grandstanding -- while openly accepting real racists and public masturbators as their leaders.  It's impossible to be a hypocrite when one doesn't believe in anything but power.  When that is the standard by which you live -- and you have the media on your side -- any behavior is acceptable.  As today's Democrats like to say -- "... don't let a good crisis go to waste."

I have to wonder how something so racist and anti-American came to be.  It's hard to believe a country so in love with Martin Luther King's dream of one day living in a nation "where (they) will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character," could completely change course in less than a decade.

There's little doubt that  President Trump peeled back the onion that was hiding the layers of rot found in our major institutions (education, government and judicial).  Trump attacked their non-American agendas and laid them out for all to see.  Perhaps, fearing another Trump presidency, or someone like him, the Democrats accelerated their agenda with no holds barred.

With the GOP and Supreme Court rolling over on the 2020 election, it was time for the Democrats to call in their own MR. BIG.

Perhaps it went something like this... ?

Electric arcs crackle overhead as the shadowy figure spins dials and manipulates levers.  Nearby, a  tank -- holding the suspended blob of a brain labeled BYEDN -- bubbles happily.   Scattered on benches and cabinets are test tubes filled with various powders and liquids.  One of them, a large beaker labeled COVID, is lying on its side as a rat sniffs its spilled contents warily.

A large metallic table, suspended by an assortment of hydraulic pistons, holds the shape of  a cloth-draped body.  Leather straps are wrapped around its chest and legs.  From beneath the sheet hangs a shriveled arm, with tubes leading from it with red, white and blue fluids running into a slotted grill in the floor.

Periodic rain, carried by a strong wind, strikes a curved, leaded glass window, although it cannot be heard above the constant buzz coming from the lab's powerful generator.

A second figure, wearing a white lab coat, pauses in her work as a nearby wall, covered by a bank of mounted television screens, shows various cable news broadcasts from CNN, CBS, MSNBC and NBC.
From the screen showing MSNBC, anchorman Don Lemon is saying, "We have to stop demonizing people and realize the biggest threat in this country is white men; most of them radicalized to the right, and we have to start doing something about them."

Another screen showed black Actress Gabourey Sidibe, from the film Precious, discussing race on “The View,”: “Older white men are a problem, y’all, for everyone. We’re all at risk.”

James Livingston, a history professor at Rutgers University, speaks on the screen showing CNN : “OK, officially, I now hate white people. … I hereby resign from my race. F— these people.”

On another television screen, the face of Steven Clifford, former King Broadcasting CEO, says, “I will be leading a great movement to prohibit straight white males, who I believe supported Donald Trump by about 85 percent, from exercising the franchise [to vote], and I think that will save our democracy.”

Combined, the frenzied voices muddle into a common theme, heard on every channel except the one labelled FOX.  As if under a spell, each personality begins reciting language from today's DND press release, verbatim -- "... with Trump's assistance, white, male racism has once again reared its ugly head."

The man cackles menacingly and mutters to himself that everything is going according to plan.  In his hands is an envelop from which he opens and removes a video tape marked "Jimmy Kimmel's Opening Monologue."   He reaches across a wooden table and opens a drawer labeled, LATE NITE COMEDY.   Inside are rolls of video tapes spooling into a machine connected by wires and flashing bulbs.   Familiar names can be seen, like Stephen Colbert, Saturday Night Live!, Jimmy Fallon, Comedy Central and  Full Frontal with Samantha Bee."  Finding the correct slot, he puts the cassette in place, waits for a mechanical device to retrieve the tape, then closes the drawer.

Suddenly, a flash of lightning dims the overhead lights, to be followed by the boom of thunder.  Excitedly, the man rushes to the table, frantically checking the straps holding the body, then cranks a wheel.  Slowly the platform rises toward the ceiling, where within moments, a metal door opens and the platform and body disappear into the night sky.

As minutes pass, the man paces impatiently back and forth between a monitor showing of birds eye view of the rooftop and a heart monitoring machine, currently showing a flat green line.  He pulls down a pair of goggles to shield his eyes from the glare while his female assistant adjusts a few more dials before the sound of approaching lightning seizes her attention.

"Any moment now, Barrack!  We are so close -- I can FEEL it, any moment!"  she laughs deliciously.  "Soon we will have the ultimate symbol of opportunity, created by you.  With it we will be able to fulfill your promise to fundamentally change the country!"

With a look of annoyance, ex-president Barrack Obama studies the monitor, where he watches the strapped figure being pummeled by a steady stream of wind and rain.  He pushes a lever up adding more power to the experiment, as coils near a wall begin to heat and glow.  The hum of electricity becomes deafening as the generator's cowling cries in squeaky protest.  The wall of television monitors blacken, except FOX News.

"I need more power!" Barrack shouts, as more lightning and thunder rumble through the night sky.

Moving a final lever, he sends a final surge of electricity into the body on the roof.  Despite the leather straps, the sheet covering the body is in tatters, revealing a figure reacting to artificial life surging through its body..  Its face grimaces -- an instinctive reaction -- as it fights the violent insurgency coursing through its veins.

Unsuspecting observers would be shocked in their recognition -- it is the disfigured body of one of America's most iconic symbols, Uncle Sam.  However, the figure looks nothing like the tall, whiskered  figure revered in patriotic plays, stories and verses.  Instead, the damaged body has been "re-arranged" into a jigsaw of white, brown, and black body parts, representing African, Latino and American Indian origins.  There has been a crude attempt to feminize the body, but it will never be mistaken for female or anything attractive.  Instead of representing something beautiful and unifying, it is a monster.  Like all things liberals attempt, this experiment is a frightening failure.

Suddenly, a crack of lightning momentarily whitens the television screen, before it fades to black, smoke curling into the air from the monitor's fried circuits and wires.

"Quickly Alexandria," Obama orders, removing his goggles, "help me lower the body!"  Together the two figures move the wheel in reverse, lowering the smoking platform and body into the laboratory as the overhead doors slowly close.  Overhead the violent storm has subsided, leaving illuminated clouds racing through a darkened sky as its only reminder.

Slowly, the platform reaches the floor.  Its surface is blackened and charred having absorbed the majority of the lightning strike, but the body remains intact.  Smoke, the result of water turning to steam, rises from the monster's blackened skin.  In numerous spots, cuts have re-opened and stitches have burst where original and new skin were sewn together.

AOC is delirious with excitement, as though someone is talking about the New Green Deal.

Obama leans forward, carefully places his hand on the monster's chest and stares at its face.  Seconds pass in anticipation, then fingers begin to twitch, then its hand and finally the entire arm.  Obama  watches the face and chest, looking for signs of sustained life.  Still nothing.

"Come on!"  Obama shouts, then thumps a clenched fist on its chest.  Blood and water splatter.  "You are my creation.  My response to America's unjust founding, its homophobia, white supremacy and lack of opportunity for gays, transgenders, and other minorities.  YOU are the new America.  A country based on equity of outcome, not equal opportunity.  Awaken!  Become the Marxist object of tolerance you were meant to be."

As Obama's words die in the silence of the laboratory, the creature's chest suddenly begins to rise and fall, its eyes flutter and its mouth opens, gasping for breath.  Finally, the eyes open and looked in fear at its creator.

AOC stares in amazement and says,  "Ooh, master Obama! No, no!  I mean, mister.  No!  Not mister.  What politically-correct pronoun are we using these days?"  she asks, then hesitates and pinches the bridge of her nose in concentration.  Thinking has always been difficult for her, but today she is determined to meet the challenge.  She smiles, opens her eyes and looks toward the ex-president.

"I mean your excellency!  Yes, your excellency Obama.  I am so excited!  Today will go down in history as we reach the end of our journey.  Following decades of radical protests, of climbing the corporate ladder to achieve control over America's most prized institutions, and of successfully removing the need to vote has led to this moment in time."

She wipes the back of her hand across her mouth, which had begun to salivate uncontrollably.

"Perhaps we should call CNN or ABC?  Maybe a text to Chris Cuomo?  Or another threat to Justice John Roberts?  I am yours to command, your -- uh, excellency!  Tell me -- what do you want to do?"

Obama smiles then says,  "Call my wife.  Tell her she can once again be proud of America.  The New America.  Our America."

Conscious Capitalism

Liberals are like the Spartans from the movie 300.  They never give up.

On the heels of faking a story about campus rape because they think it's true somewhere, comes the latest attempt to shape reality and think "racial inequality" can be solved over a cup of coffee.

I'm talking about Starbucks decision to engage customers in a conversation about race by scribbling liberal activism on a cup.  This new marketing campaign is the brainchild of CEO Howard Schultz, who is urging Starbucks' employees to "perform a small gesture of writing 'Race Together' on a cup.  And if a customer asks you what this is, try and engage in a discussion, that we have problems in this country with regard to race and racial inequality, and we believe we're better than this, and we believe the country's better than this.  And if this makes you have a conversation with a customer about the need for compassion, the need for empathy, the need for love towards others, if you can do that with one customer (each) day, then you're making a significant difference as we go forward."

Schultz concluded, "I think this is really important not so much for the company, but for the country."

According to Schultz, "RACE TOGETHER is not a solution, but it is an opportunity to begin to re-examine how we can create a more empathetic and inclusive society — one conversation at a time.  Rules of engagement, in regards to this issue, must change."

I couldn't agree more.

Race relations have taken a big step back since Obama became president.  You have the "beer summit" following the arrest of Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates, the Trayvon Martin shooting trial in Florida, and the Michael Brown shooting resulting in the Ferguson riots.  It is my opinion that most blacks feel Gates, Martin and Brown were  innocent in each instance, and the offending officers should have been held accountable.  Conversely, whites agree with the verdicts handed down, and feel the riots that followed are an excuse to cause more trouble.

And thanks to President Obama -- inflaming tensions and fostering divisions among whites and blacks -- this country is in worse shape now than in the past 50 years.   I understand that's what a community organizer does.  It's not to make things better -- it's to keep things stirred up.   So slogans like "Hands Up!  Don't shoot!" and the conscious efforts made by NFL and NBA teams to side with other blacks is not a surprise.

And yet here is the CEO of a well-known business, thinking words can make a difference.  This self described conscious capitalism has nothing to do with solving the problem.  And it is nothing more than what the left has been doing for decades.  Describing good intentions and hoping they trump common sense.

But here is the reality:  talking about a problem doesn't solve the problem.

It's the same concept used to describe Secretary of State, John Kerry, sitting down with known-terrorist supporter, Iran, to talk about nuclear negotiations and reduce sanctions while tens of thousands of protestors shout DEATH TO AMERICA outside the U.S. embassy.  If I was a political cartoonist, I'd draw a picture of Kerry signing the nuclear agreement, then handing over the pen to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani -- who promptly stabs him in the back.

There are other reasons why this "RACE TOGETHER" idea is bad:

. Some people are not morning people.  I wouldn't discuss anything political until after two cups of coffee.

. If you're rushed getting to work, do you want to wait in line while the person ahead of you carries on a conversation on race?

. What makes Starbucks think the people preparing your coffee know anything about race?

I'm betting most of them spend more time searching through Yahoo Entertainment (what is Kim Kardashian up to?) than reading Thomas Sowell's view on racial disparities.  I also don't think they get a very balanced discussion of race problems by absorbing what's being taught in our state's universities.  Three quick examples:

A Seattle university physics teacher has asked his class to study why there are so few black physicists.  Is it because blacks are not smart enough, not being exposed to science, or not getting opportunities?  Having made the assumption that whites have an advantage over blacks, the assignment continues by asking students to write about how they feel about this "white privilege"? The professor readily admits to feeling jealous about his colleagues in English and History who get to talk about society and morality every day.

Another example is having to write a history paper on early exploration and discovery in America.  Students are asked to take the side of native Indians in debates -- focusing on the death and destruction that Columbus and the pilgrims brought to the Indians when they arrived in America (my sons were given that assignment in 9th grade).

A third example  involves a recent episode of "The Walking Dead," where students led a discussion about why only black characters on the show were being killed off.  Surely there was someone at the network making a conscious effort to discriminate against black characters in favor of keeping white ones alive.

So with this educational background -- white privilege gives some of us an unfair advantage -- what chance is there that I could have a balanced discussion about race?

. If the left wants a conversation about race, shouldn't they be following their own advice?

Starbucks' initiative also includes partnering with USA Today. Larry Kramer, USA Today's editor and publisher said of their partnership, "Our nation is only becoming more diverse. To ignore, dismiss or fail to productively engage our differences is to stifle our collective potential. Diversity of thought and skills lead to more creative ideas and higher performance. Bias, even unintentional slights, sap our potential for shared prosperity while denying our shared humanity."

Like most talk coming from the left, that sounds pretty good.  How can you argue against diversity, collective potential and shared prosperity?  But if you do a little research to see if USA Today or Starbucks practice what they preach, you'll find something surprising.

According to a review of Starbuck's executive management team, which consists of 19 people, 95% are white.  USA Today has one woman and 7 men on its editorial board.  All white.  Other media that eagerly support race discussions are no different.  Time Warner (CNN's parent company) has an executive management team that is 100% white.  The New York Times' management team has one black on a staff of 14.  The Washington Post's leadership team has one woman, one Native American and 11 white men.  Not one black.

If "racing together" is so important to CEO Howard Schultz, why doesn't Starbucks have any coffee shops in Ferguson, MO?  Why is he so quick to put demands on us, when he refuses to do the same himself?   The answer is typical of so many liberal companies that have skin in this race game.  Words trump reality.  It looks good and makes them feel better than others.

How else would you explain the USA Today saying, "elevating diversity is not only the right thing to do, but ... also a necessity." Apparently the necessity is in creative ideas and diversity of thought, not black butts sitting in their board rooms.  Preaching tolerance, diversity and racial acceptance sounds good, but it seems like it has a hard time making to the top floor of all of these important organizations.

In the time it has taken to research and write this blog (about a week), the "Race Together" initiative has run its course.  Beginning today, Starbucks has put their much publicized initiative on hiatus.  Claiming "Race Together" was always meant to be a week long discussion (although I can't find any reference to it), Schultz and Kramer feel like it has been a success.

And Starbucks is still planning to foster conversations about race -- just not by having their baristas on the forefront of that conversation.  Therefore the following comments have been released:

"The phase-out is not a reaction to any pushback.  Nothing is changing."

"It's all part of the cadence of the timeline we originally planned."

"We're leaning into it hard."

"While there has been criticism of the initiative -- and I know this hasn't been easy for any of you -- let me assure you that we didn't expect universal praise."

"This campaign... will make sure that the promise of the American Dream should be available to every person in this country, not just a select few."

I know that we have a problem in this country when it comes to politics, race and jobs.  And I don't mean to be critical of anyone attempting to find solutions to those problems.  But I will be critical of  businesses like Starbucks and USA Today that think they have the answers when they are the ones perpetuating the problem.  By throwing words on paper, money at poverty, forcing equality where none exists and blaming white priviledge they have made finding an equitable solution much harder than it needs to be.

Blacks and whites need to find common ground that can withstand the attacks of community organizers, and the prejudices of those who give credence to actual discrimination and violence.

Writing "Race Together" on a coffee cup does neither.

Intelligence: Missing In Action

My last blog talked about a World Public Opinion poll showing those who watched FOX NEWS were misinformed.

Far be it from me -- even during the holiday season -- to miss an opportunity to show the other side of the argument.  Conservatives aren't the only ones that make mistakes.  Here is a sampling of stupid gaffes made by the smartest president ever, President Obama.  And in true fashion, the mainstream media didn't report most of them.  Surprised?

English Embassy.
President Obama recently said in response to Iran storming the British Embassy in Tehran -- "All of us, I think are deeply disturbed by the crashing of the English Embassy,"  Obama said.  Someone needs to tell the president that there isn't an English Embassy, it's called the British Embassy.  While they're at it, they may also let him know that England forms part of Great Britain which includes Wales and Scotland (and Northern Ireland as part of the United Kingdom).  There isn't an English Embassy anywhere in the world.

State of Confusion.
While campaigning for President in 2008, Obama said at a rally in Oregon "Over the last 15 months, we've traveled to every corner of the United States.  I've now been in 57 states.  I think I have one left to go."  Huh?  The last time I checked, there were 50 states, plus Washington D.C.  It didn't take long for Obama's staff to make the excuse that he was just tired from the constant campaigning.

What Year Is It?
Earlier this year, President Obama was on a trip to Westminster Abbey in London.  During his stop, he signed the guest book and dated it 24May2008.  The problem was that it was the year 2011.  No explanation was given to cover up this blooper.

Dead on Arrival.
During a speech at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. on February 5, 2010 Obama said, "One such translator was an American of Haitian descent, representative of the extraordinary work that our men and women in uniform do all around the world -- Navy Corpse-Man Christian Brossard." -- mispronouncing "Corpsman" (the "ps" is silent).  In addition, the name was Christopher, not Christian...

Discovers New Language.
During a 2009 speech in Strasbourg, France, President Obama said, "It was also interesting to see that political interaction in Europe is not that different from the United States Senate.  There's a lot of -- I don't know what the term is in Austrian, wheeling and dealing."  Someone forgot to tell Obama that "Austrian," as a language, does not exist.  He should have said German.

Land of Confusion.
President Obama apparently forgot where he was during a press conference held on the outskirts of Honolulu, despite being born there.  While answering a question about budget cuts, he said, "When I meet with world leaders, what's striking -- whether it's in Europe or here in Asia -- the kinds of fundamental reforms and changes... that other countries are having to make are so much more significant that what we need to do."  When did Hawaii leave the United States?

And since I'm in the holiday mood, where would we be without Vice-President Joe Biden, who is often referred to as a gaffe machine.  Here are a couple of his quotes:

Biden-ism #1
During an interview with Katie Couric in 2008, Biden said, "When the stock market crashed, Franklin D Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed.  he said, 'Look, here's what happened.'"  Apparently Joe was unaware that FDR wasn't president when the stock market crashed in 1929, and that only experimental TV sets were in use at the time.

Biden-ism #2
"Stand up, Chuck, let 'em see ya."  -- spoken by Biden to Missouri state Senator Chuck Graham, who is in a wheel chair.

Biden-ism #3
"His mom lived in Long Island for ten years or so.  God rest her soul.  And --although, she's -- wait -- your mom's still alive?  Your dad passed.  God bless her soul!"  uttered by Biden in 2010 about the mother of Irish Minister Brian Cowen, who is very much alive.

Now I realize that I'm picking on guys who give a lot of speeches, but it proves my point that if you try hard enough, you're going to make mistakes or say something stupid.  And it wouldn't even bother me if it wasn't for the double standard the left uses when using examples from Bush via Comedy Central and Saturday Night Live!  It's the constant abuse by our media to make the conservative right look at stupid as possible.  And that applies to the elite left who think polls determine intelligence and knowledge.

Give it a break -- an education (as evidenced by Obama and Biden, to name a few) doesn't guarantee anything.  And calling someone stupid only makes you look worse when it applies to both sides of the aisle.

Your Majesty, King Barack

I can't help thinking about the Royal Wedding of Prince William and  Kate Middleton -- maybe it has something to do with the non-stop coverage on every channel from FOX, CBS, ABC and NBC, as well as a few mentions on ESPN and  PBS.

I've also been thinking about the relationship that exists between the Monarchy of the United Kingdom and the general public (commoners) who overwhelmingly support them in their elevated role. Legislative, executive and judicial powers are given to other parties, but the Queen of England and her lawful successors are given the "Royal Prerogative" to regulate civil service, declare war, make peace, direct actions of the military and negotiate international agreements and alliances.  Great Britain's Parliament, however, can override any power the Monarch holds by passing legislation.

It's a relationship (however symbolic) that I can't fully understand, because our first president, George Washington, made it clear he did not want to be king.  He believed the United States would be a stronger Republic if led by its free and independent citizens.  It was a controversial position taken by our commander in chief, who resisted the masses and military might who deeply desired a sovereign ruler.

Our First President
Over the years, his way of thinking has been diminished by the power elite in Washington and a welfare state needing more and more assistance (tax payer money).

George Washington said in his first inaugural address in New York City:  "The magnitude and difficulty of the trust to which the voice of my country called me... could overwhelm with despondence one who... ought to be peculiarly conscious of his own deficiencies."

His modesty and abhorrence of power set a standard for American presidents that lasted for more than 150 years.

We need government's help

The fierce independence and self-reliance that George Washington envisioned for the United States eventually succumbed to the political scheming of powerful leaders who took advantage of an economically-weakened American populace.

With the "Great Depression" of the 1930's and presidency of Franklin D Roosevelt, the United States was introduced to our first organized system of welfare, joining the ranks of Germany, Great Britain, and the rest of Europe.  Roosevelt's power grab led to The New Deal, which meant a drastically new and intrusive role for government.

"I pledge you," he said at the 1932 Democratic National Convention, "and I pledge myself to a new deal for the American people."  Roosevelt and his "brain trust" of political advisers -- arrogant and opportunistic -- convinced millions of U.S. citizens that he was their savior in their time of need, or as the New York Times editorialized on June 18, 1933, "the heaven-sent man of the hour."
President Roosevelt
In truth, President Roosevelt was nothing more than an opportunistic politician who succeeded in revolutionizing the institutions of American political and economic life -- and as a result, diminished our economic and individual liberties.

In the 1950's President Lyndon B Johnson's desire to create the Great Society took the New Deal policies to even greater heights through public broadcasting, Medicare, Medicaid and federal education spending.  The power and arrogance that Johnson seized was made possible by the assassination of President Kennedy, who had had his own initiatives known as the New Frontier.

President Johnson took advantage of Kennedy's assassination and the idealistic 1960's to push his utopian views on poverty and discrimination.  Instead of ending "the war on poverty" Johnson led the country into further dependency and political/racial/military unrest.

The Great Society's programs expanded further under Presidents Nixon and Ford.  With President's Bush Clinton, and now Obama, welfare has continued its spread into the lives of children, seniors and even working class citizens.

While the goals of these social programs was originally honorable -- ending poverty and racial injustice -- the result has been much less:  a loss of  freedom and a growing dependency on our country's leaders to provide everything from food, childcare and healthcare.

The New Deal
The Man Who Would Be King

As Barack Obama ascended to the presidency in 2008, our country was once again reeling from the aftermath of a severe recession.  Once again, America mistakenly looked to Washington and its political royalty to find salvation.

Obama's historic victory caused some people to view him as a messiah, as this quote from Rep Jesse Jackson Jr shows:  "I cried all night.  I'm going to be crying for the next four years.  What Barack Obama has accomplished is the single most extraordinary event that has occurred in the 232 years of the nation's political history... The event itself is so extraordinary, that another chapter should be added to the Bible to chronicle its significance."

And with this view firmly entrenched, Obama has proceeded to launch one of the greatest assaults to our freedoms in modern times:  passing Obamacare despite the objections of the American people and lower courts who have called the bill unconstitutional, attempting to change the Second Amendment (gun control), and bypassing Congress to name czar positions overseeing healthcare, climate change, the auto industry and urban affairs.  President Obama has also passed two massive economic stimulus programs that are bankrupting our economy.   And let's not forget how quickly he nationalized auto companies, financial institutions and banks.

The results?  A country with over $14 trillion of debt, over 9% unemployment, one in seven on food stamps, a three year low for the dollar, gasoline prices over $4 per gallon, and more than 50% of our population receiving some type of income from the government.

Based on his first two years in office, I'm convinced our Lord and Majesty, King Barack would be at home in Persia, Alexander's Greek Empire, Rome, Egypt, the Inca and Maya empires, and the Soviet Union.  They were all pyramid-building empires made up of welfare-like programs commanded from the top.

Let's hope that with the election of last fall's conservative agenda, America sees the error of their ways.  In less than one-hundred years, we have seen the rise of government that would shock our founding fathers to the core.  Unless we are willing to stop our dependency on government welfare -- and restore the presidency to the time of George Washington -- the United States of America is doomed to go the way of prior empires.

God save the president.

Obama's Lack of Leadership

You might find this hard to believe, but there is a word in the dictionary that is appropriate for what's happening in our intervention into Libya's festering civil war.  The word is OBAMBULATE, which means to "wander or walk about aimlessly."  You can check it out if you don't believe me.

It's a fitting word for the lack of leadership coming from President Obama on the majority of issues he has faced in his two years of office.

Starting with Libya, yesterday during a press briefing, we were treated with this hilarious exchange between Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications Ben Rhodes and a journalist who asked:  "If it's not a war, what's the right way to characterize this operation?"

Leader of the Pack
Vince Lombardi
Mr. Rhodes said:  "I think what we've said is that this is a military operation that will be limited in both duration and scope.  Our contribution to this military operation that is enforcing a U.N. Security Council resolution is going to be limited to the from end, and then we'll shift to a support role..."

Question:  "But it's not going to war then?"

Mr Rhodes answered:  "Well, again, I think what we are doing is enforcing a resolution that has a very clear set of goals, which is protecting the Libyan people, averting a humanitarian crisis and setting up a no fly-zone.  Obviously that involves "kinetic military action", particularly on the front end..."

In response to the earlier question, it's clear that President Obama has no interest in exhibiting any leadership on the Libyan conflict.  Not only won't he call it a war, but he talks about providing humanitarian aid, to enforcing the no fly zone to providing naval and air support, with little or no clarity to our mission.  His dependency on NATO (who's origins date back to creating a North Atlantic Alliance to support member countries -- of which Libya IS NOT ONE) eliminates the United States and President Obama from taking the lead in what is understandably a difficult situation.

Can you imagine President George Washington, Ulysses Grant,  Prime Minister Winston Churchill or better yet, General George Patton using "kinetic military action" to describe our activities?  For President Obama, not only is war hell -- but apparently -- so is just saying it.

President Obama has shown NO leadership in the handling of one of the biggest problems our country is facing -- illegal immigration.  Instead of showing support for tough new immigration reform -- designed to identify, prosecute and deport illegal immigrants -- President Obama filed a lawsuit against Arizona saying that the state was taking matters into its own hands.  That's our job, the U.S. Justice Department argued.

Apparently their job is to oppose Arizona's new immigration law.  Speaking at a naturalization ceremony last year, President Obama call for an overhaul of immigration laws to avoid "irresponsibility by others." He later added that the Arizona law threatened "to undermine basic notions of fairness that we cherish as Americans...".  Huh?  Since when does identifying ILLEGAL immigrants and deporting them undermine American fairness?  Maybe breaking the law is an acceptable way of doing business in Chicago, but not for the rest of the country.

I understand that President Obama, being a democrat, was likely to oppose the new law.  What I don't understand is why he decided to interject himself into this debate at all.  States across the country have proposed or enacted hundreds of bills addressing immigration since 2007 (some 222 laws and 131 resolutions in 48 states) because the federal government won't enforce the laws that will make these states safe.  If he wants to exhibit leadership on this issue, he should stop micromanaging immigration reform and just tell the Justice Department to "do their job."

For too many years, politicians have put votes and their survival before the safety of their constituents and the rights of states to protect their borders.  President Obama's no different.

If Obama takes the lead on anything these days, it's getting out there and apologizing for occasions when America has been " arrogant, dismissive and derisive" toward Europe.  Rather than being a statesman for a strong America, Obama has claimed that America has "a moral responsibility to act" on arms control because only the U.S. has "used a nuclear weapon."  In Latin America, he said the U.S. had not "pursued and sustained engagement with our neighbors" because we "failed to see that our own progress is tied directly to progress throughout the Americas."

Why the criticism?  As Nicolle Wallace explained in a Daily Beast article last year "Why is Obama Apologizing for America?" it's not because Obama is anti-American.  It's because he views America as needing to BE SAVED from its past (bombing Hiroshima, the Bay of Pigs and Pershing and cruise missiles in Europe and the Middle East).  And as it's savior, Obama must tear it down before he can save it.

By all accounts, President Obama does not see American exceptionalism.  Lacking in his definition is a belief in America's special accomplishments and a history of unrivaled freedom, generosity, productivity, innovation, militaristic and diplomatic strength and record as liberators, protectors, and defenders.

Finding fault in America has never had a seat in the Oval Office quite like it does with Obama.

My last post talked about how people are feeling like things have never been worse.  Throughout the history of this great country -- through depressions, wars and unemployment -- citizens have looked to our president for confidence, a great vision, and hope.  It is also important that our leaders hold an optimistic view of the world, so that they can inspire others to achieve better things and overcome obstacles to freedom and choice.

Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, in her eulogy of former president Ronald Reagan, stated the following:  "In his lifetime, Ronald Reagan was such a cheerful and invigorating presence that it was easy to forget what daunting historic tasks he set for himself.  He sought to mend America's wounded spirit, to restore the strength of the free world and to free the slaves of Communism."

Is it too much to expect the same from Obama?
